"My Dream
my dream... honestly i hardly touched on this scary topic. but i must say, i do have dreams, almost impossible ones. you may think its something like creating anti-gravity or travelling to pluto, but its not that at all. it's just simply being a pilot, as simple as that.
wondering why its impossible? because i have night blindness, i cannot be a pilot.
i usually stare at the planes that fly pass me (i live near seletar airport). curiousity got me wondering how do people control these complicated machines. from then on, i dedicated myself to become the pilot of tomorrow.
i always stood on the positive side, believing i can be a pilot someday, but it never lasted. last june, after my yearly eye checkup at NUH, the doctor said with ease 'your eyes are alright, and your life will be normal, but you wont be able to work for 'eye-demanding' jobs, just like a PILOT.'
my heart shattered. my dream was torn by the doctor's hurting words. my dream was gone, never ever going to be realised by my shattered heart.
i cried in the toilet, without my mother knowing. i was devastated, as i thought of the doctor's words. i knew i had to accept this unbelievable truth, but i could not bring myself to realise that.
time solved the problem. i brougt myself in to the realistic and cruel truth. from then on, i dedicated myself to work on my science and become a scientist.
my dream was not actually bring a pilot. i believe everyone was born for a purpouse and i finally knew what i was for. i was born to find the way to cure night blindness, so as to let the people like me that suffer from night blindness realise their dream to become the people that soar-pilots."
